I’m proud to be returning to speak at the 29th Annual Las Vegas CLE Seminar.  This year, my presentation topic is “The Non-Linear Relationship of Value-Based Marketing.”  I’ll provide perspectives on value-based marketing.  During the presentation, I’ll illustrate a technique I developed to increase exposure on multiple social media and traditional media resources without significantly increasing the time required to do so.

In today’s environment, it’s important to utilize social media differently than what we may have done in the past.  It’s your message that matters most.  Where it shows up is a close second.  You’ll learn practical steps to increase your brand exposure, while maintaining brand positioning.

Growing your law firm in 2023 is going to be more complicated than in past years. While face to face interactions, dinners and formal presentations are effective, they take time. That’s your one asset that’s the most scarce. There are only so many opportunities to do these types of activities. It’s why firms rely on other forms of marketing, including websites, legal directories, videos and more. You need a tool, or series of tools, promoting your firm’s brand 24/7. Unfortunately, there’s a good chance you’re missing a key component.

A February article from JDSupra, highlighted excerpts from a December 2022 report, “22 Legal Marketing Statistics” by Good2BSocial. The report focused on the top 200 law firms in the US. Two stats immediately jumped out:

I found this interesting, as someone who produces custom-branded podcasts for law firms, financial and accounting professionals, healthcare professionals and others. In the Louisville market, I also service 2 law firms that actually have 2 separate podcasts.

So, the obvious question is, does your firm have a podcast? Has your law firm found its voice? If not, how much longer are you going to continue missing out on one of the most effective, content marketing tools available to you?

Many small businesses, including law firms, medical offices, accounting firms, and others, have traditionally used newsletters to provide updates to clients, patients and prospective contacts.  Technology provides us a much more impactful way to accomplish the same objective, but with several distinct advantages.  So, let’s talk about them; literally.

As a marketer and small business consultant, I’ve produced numerous newsletters for clients over the years.  The process usually involves drafting and revising content, chasing those who failed to submit their articles on time, design and layout, merging the content with the layout, which means another round of edits and more typo-hunting.

Then, there’s the fulfillment process including address labeling, postage expense and hoping the addresses on file are the most up to date versions.

Once those newsletters go out, there’s the anticipation of all of those incoming phone calls because after all, who wouldn’t want to stop what they’re doing to read that beautiful newsletter?  Oh yeah, that’s assuming it didn’t get tossed out with all of the other junk mail. Read more →
