About Jim
I’m a lot like you. I continue to work in the trenches and look for ways to achieve my vision of a successful career. Honesty and integrity are not simply words; they’re an important part of who I am. At heart, I’m simply a coach who thrives on helping you:
- Make sense of your competitive environment
- Leverage available tools to your advantage
- Ensure you accomplish goals important to your personal vision
Over the past 20+ years, I’ve had the opportunity to work for Fortune 500 companies (e.g. GE, Xerox, WESCO) and Thomson Reuters (one of Fortune’s Most Admired Companies). I gained valuable perspectives through extensive training and being held to high standards. That’s part of the advantage I now offer you. However, I’m not just a corporate guy who doesn’t understand how a small business, with limited resources, operates. My background might surprise you.
I’ve run 2 regional distributorships with profit & loss responsibility and multi-million budgets. I’ve built territories and managed sales teams. I’ve had to make tough staffing decisions, negotiate with vendors and refine internal business processes. I understand the importance of delivering net margin to the bottom-line.
20+ Years of Driving Results…and Being Measured by Them
I was a legal consultant for over 7 years, during which I helped more than 60 law firms to effectively market and differentiate themselves. I earned the most extensive client base in the state, which included many top firms. During that time, my clients demonstrated their confidence in me by renewing their contracts at levels that far exceeded our company objectives. My focus enabled my clients make a lot of money, have greater confidence in their business execution and concentrate on their individual core competencies.
I was invited to speak at 2 national sales meetings where I talked about how I approach client situations and opportunities. I was asked to present 3 national webinars on how to leverage the Internet to develop new clients and reinforce your brand.
I’ve always been a fierce client-advocate. That’s part of the reason 2 clients invited me to work “in-house” as the Director of their law firm. Helping build a law practice taught me valuable insights that I wouldn’t have understood, from the outside.
In 2018, I launched a small business podcast called, “Let’s Grow For It!” This podcast is focused on “mindset issues” for business owner, operators, managers and professionals. Stats indicate it’s regularly listened to by CEOs, executive directors, managers and other professionals across the country.
A few months later, I launched a local talk radio show, which streams nationally on the iHeartRadio app. The show is called, “Let’s Get It Started!” It features weekly guest and offers practical advice for small business owners and those thinking about launching a business.
Both the podcast and radio show podcast are available on iTunes and other media platforms.
Currently, I present continuing legal education (CLE) seminars on practice management and business development, ghost-write content and blog posts for clients and help clients to better utilize their marketing assets. I regularly contribute articles to the Louisville Bar Association, the National Bar Association, Kentucky Doc Magazine and the Kentucky Psychological Association.
While not every step in my career path seemed to follow a logical order, what I realized is that each opportunity taught me valuable skills that ultimately lead to the launching of my own firm. If you’re taking the time to visit this site, you might be wondering if you can take your business to a higher level. Maybe you’re planning a business startup or need to re-focus an existing practice. Quite honestly, it might simply be dealing those whispers in your head that cause you to wonder if you really have what it takes. The reality is, YOU DO!
